Belgium Post has launched a new, free and time-saving service across the country that allows registered mail to be delivered to customers' homes even if they are not at home.
The customer can go to the post office or post office and authorize Belgian Post to deliver registered mail without compromising the legal value of registered mail.
From August this year, the new service will be available to private families at all post offices and post offices in Belgium. In the future, customers will also be able to do this through the My BPost application.
The delivery procedures for registered mail, parcels and pension bills were updated in March 2020 to ensure compliance with the social distance rule during COVID-19 containment. The mailer has the right to sign for the recipient in the recipient's presence. These temporary measures will be lifted as the situation improves and the government gradually eases restrictions. From July 1, 2021, recipients will have to sign for mail on a deliverer's device. If the new "Sign for Me" service is implemented, the sign-on step will be omitted to better protect health and safety.
