Tokyo, May 30 (Jiji Press)-Japan aims to realize drone parcel delivery services in urban areas in the 2020s, the government said in a new growth strategy draft on Tuesday in this week.

The draft calls for achieving “Society 5.0,” a concept advocated by the government to realize a society that makes maximum use of cutting-edge technologies, such as artificial intelligence and robots.

The government plans to adopt the growth strategy at a cabinet meeting in early June, after coordinating opinions with the ruling camp led by the Liberal Democratic Party.

The draft was presented at a meeting of the government’s Council on Investments for the Future.

“Japan, faced with a decrease in children and an aging population, can utilize artificial intelligence and robots without worrying about job losses,” Prime Minister Abe Shinzō said at the meeting.
